Filip Petrušev claims sabotage behind his transfer to Dubai

Serbian forward Filip Petrušev, a member of the national team and former Red Star player, explained that his move to Dubai Basketball Club was driven by a lack of concrete offers from other teams. He said a rival club spread false information about him, effectively sabotaging his transfer prospects. "When I arrived in Dubai, none of the rumours they had heard were true. There was clearly an attempt to sabotage me," he told Mozzart Sport.

Petrušev also highlighted the physical challenges he faced during the season, noting a serious knee injury that required extensive treatment. Despite limited play in the ABA League playoffs, he contributed to Dubai’s historic first title in the competition. Looking ahead, he affirmed the club’s ambition to compete strongly in the EuroLeague.

The player emphasized that such behind‑the‑scenes tactics are common in European basketball markets, where clubs use all means to secure players. He urged fans to understand the broader context of his departure from Red Star and the subsequent success with Dubai.
