Filip Salač wins maiden Moto2 race at Silverstone
Filip Salač secured his first career Moto2 victory at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone. The Czech rider, competing for the OnlyFans American Racing team, achieved the win following a dramatic final lap.
During the closing stages, championship leader Manuel González appeared to be in control but mistakenly began celebrating before the race had officially concluded. This error led to contact with Daniel Holgado, causing González to drop from first place to 14th. Salač capitalized on the chaos to take the lead and defend his position against Iván Ortolá and Álex Escrig, who finished second and third respectively.
This victory marks the first Grand Prix win for a Czech rider in Moto2 since Karel Abraham in 2010. Salač, who started from sixth on the grid, expressed immense emotion following the race, noting the long journey and hard work required to reach the top step of the podium.
