Filip Turek apologizes to Hnutí Duha and faces misdemeanor ruling

Czech MP Filip Turek has issued a formal apology to the environmental organization Hnutí Duha following a court ruling. Turek had previously claimed the group was responsible for deaths during floods and referred to its members as ‘parasites that need to be exterminated.’ While Turek has sent a written apology via a data box, he has not yet fulfilled the court's requirement to post the apology on his Facebook profile for at least seven days.

Separately, police have concluded their investigation into a July traffic accident involving Turek and an ambulance in central Prague. Authorities determined that no criminal offense occurred, but the case has been transferred to administrative proceedings as a misdemeanor. Both drivers are suspected of violating traffic safety and flow regulations. The incident, which occurred at an intersection near I. P. Pavlova square, resulted in injuries to the ambulance driver. Turek had previously stated he would resign from his position as government envoy for climate policy if found at fault, though his future in that role remains unconfirmed.
