Filip Turek to resume advisory role at Ministry of the Environment
Petr Macinka, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the Motorists party, has called for Filip Turek to resume his advisory role at the Ministry of the Environment. Turek, who serves as the government envoy for climate policy and the Green Deal, had temporarily stepped back from active duties following a traffic accident in central Prague this July.
The accident, which involved Turek’s vehicle and an ambulance, is currently under police investigation for suspected bodily harm caused by negligence after the ambulance driver was left on sick leave. Turek has stated he expects the investigation to conclude within 30 days and maintains that he is a respectable citizen with a clean criminal record.
Macinka argued that Turek’s expertise in climate policy is essential for the ministry and that the ongoing investigation should not prevent him from contributing to high-level meetings. This development follows President Petr Pavel’s previous decision not to appoint Turek as Minister of the Environment due to existing controversies.
