Filip Turek's hate‑speech investigation closed by Czech police

The Czech police have terminated the criminal investigation into former Motoristé leader Filip Turek’s social‑media posts that contained neo‑Nazi and racist content. The decision was based on the statute of limitations, meaning any potential criminal liability for the examined statements has expired.

A separate police inquiry into a criminal complaint filed by Turek against the newspaper Deník N was also dropped after authorities concluded that the alleged conduct did not constitute a crime. The two investigations were closed for different legal reasons, but neither finding declared Turek innocent.

The case has drawn political attention because President Petr Pavel chose not to appoint Turek to his cabinet, citing the controversy among other factors. Legal experts note that while the investigations are closed, the statements remain potentially punishable if new evidence emerges.
