Filipe Caseiro Alves, prominent radiologist, dies at 67

Filipe Caseiro Alves, a prominent radiologist and professor, has died at the age of 67. He was a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and had served as the clinical director of Hospital da Luz Coimbra since 2018.

Over a career spanning more than four decades, Alves was recognized as a leading national and international figure in the field of radiology. His academic and professional work was deeply connected to the University and Hospitals of Coimbra. His international contributions earned him prestigious honors, including the Gold Medal from the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) in 2016.
