Filipe de Freitas shows recovery progress after Recife wave accident
Filipe de Freitas, a 41-year-old resident of Águas Claras, is showing significant signs of recovery following a severe accident at Maracaípe Beach in Recife. On August 10, de Freitas suffered a cervical spinal cord injury after being struck by a wave, which initially resulted in the loss of movement in his arms and legs.
According to his sister, Paula Torres, de Freitas is undergoing two physiotherapy sessions daily and has achieved milestones that were considered unlikely just ten days ago. He has regained some sensation in his right leg and is now able to move both hands, performing fine motor movements such as a pincer grasp. Additionally, he has regained the ability to sit up with arm support, transfer himself to a wheelchair, and feed himself using his left hand.
