Filipe Jota nears Celtic return after long-term injury

Portuguese winger Filipe Jota is nearing a return to competitive football following a 17-month absence due to an ACL injury sustained in April 2025. After spending much of his rehabilitation in Lisbon, the 27-year-old has been training at Lennoxtown and participating in small-sided matches.

Celtic management is considering arranging a closed-doors friendly during the international break to assess Jota’s progress and ability to handle increased intensity. While a return to the matchday squad for the October 11 fixture against Motherwell is a potential target, staff intend to manage his workload carefully to avoid premature strain.
