Filipino tennis star Alex Eala gears up for North American hard‑court swing

Filipina tennis player Alex Eala slipped one place to world No. 29 in the latest WTA rankings, keeping her 1,666 points while Czech veteran Barbora Krejčíková’s Athens Open win lifted her to No. 26. Eala, who became the first Filipino to reach the Wimbledon fourth round, will begin her North American hard‑court campaign at the Mubadala D.C. Open in Washington, D.C., scheduled for late July.

After a week‑long homecoming in the Philippines, where she thanked fans and expressed renewed pride in representing her country, Eala departed for the United States. She plans to compete in the Washington tournament, then head to Canada’s National Bank Open before concluding her summer season at the US Open in New York.
