Filipino workers migrate to Croatia for better economic opportunities

Filipino workers are migrating to Croatia in search of better economic opportunities and improved living conditions. Two individuals, Paul, a chef in Rovinj, and Ninjo, a warehouse worker in Novska, highlight the trend.

Ninjo, who moved from Cebu City, noted that the working conditions in Croatia are significantly better than in the Philippines, where he previously worked nearly double the hours for a quarter of the pay. He currently works an eight-hour day, five days a week, and plans to stay for three to five years to save money for his family and future business ventures.

Paul, who holds a two-year work permit, intends to remain in Croatia long-term and eventually bring his wife to join him. These workers often face logistical challenges, such as high airfare and the need to process visas through relatives in major hubs.
