Filippo D'Aiuto wins third stage of Giro d'Abruzzo

Filippo D'Aiuto secured his second professional victory by winning the third stage of the Giro d'Abruzzo. Competing for the General Store - Essegibi - F. Lli Curia team, the 24-year-old cyclist managed to hold off a charging group of sprinters through a solo breakaway.

After being part of a five-man breakaway that gained significant time on the peloton, D'Aiuto dropped his last remaining breakaway companion, Manuel Oioli, with 15 kilometers remaining in the 159 km stage from Oricola-Piana del Cavaliere to San Benedetto dei Marsi. Despite the chasing group narrowing the gap to just 2 seconds by the finish line, D'Aiuto utilized the technical curves of the final circuit to maintain his lead.

Dorian Godon finished in second place, while Filippo Dati took third. D'Aiuto noted the difficulty of winning a stage typically reserved for sprinters, stating he had to rely on both mental strength and physical endurance to prevent being caught in the final kilometers.
