Filippo Di Todaro elected to Italy's High Council of the Judiciary
Filippo Di Todaro, representing Unicost, has been elected to the Consiglio Superiore della Magistratura (CSM) following a decision by the Supreme Court of Cassation regarding electoral law interpretation. Di Todaro, the sole candidate from the Lecce district, secured his seat through the proportional quota after a period of uncertainty regarding the final five seats.
The election process involved complex legal determinations. A tie-breaking rule was applied where, in the event of equal votes, preference is given to the candidate of the underrepresented gender. This rule determined the allocation of several seats, including the majority seat won by Ernesta Occhiuto.
Di Todaro, a magistrate since 2004 with extensive experience in criminal law and various judicial roles in Taranto and Lecce, stated his candidacy was driven by requests from colleagues. His platform focuses on transparency in leadership appointments, more substantial professional evaluations, predictable disciplinary procedures, and adjusting staff workloads based on efficiency indicators.
