Filippo Inzaghi returns to Pisa as Palermo manager

Palermo manager Filippo Inzaghi is set to return to the Arena Garibaldi to face his former club, Pisa, following Palermo's 2-1 victory over Carrarese. Inzaghi, who previously led Pisa to promotion to Serie A, described the upcoming midweek Serie B fixture as a “special” match, noting that he “left my heart” in that stadium.

Reaction among Pisa supporters remains divided following Inzaghi's departure a year and a half ago. While some fans are expected to offer applause, others may show indifference due to the circumstances of his move to Sicily.

Ticket sales for the match are high, with over 10,000 tickets already sold and several stadium sectors reaching capacity, including the away section for Palermo supporters. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with Daniele Chiffi appointed as the head referee.
