Filippos Kambouris and LAOS party assets seized in fraud probe
Greek authorities have ordered the seizure of assets belonging to television presenter and LAOS party president Filippos Kambouris, as well as the LAOS political party. The move follows an order from Haralambos Vourliotis, an honorary Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court and head of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority.
The investigation stems from an alleged fraud scheme targeting the e-EFKA social security institution. Following the recent detention of Kambouris, his wife, and other suspects, the Anti-Money Laundering Authority expanded its probe after identifying suspicious bank transactions in Greece and within another European Union member state.
Authorities are investigating potential felony-level money laundering involving 12 individuals and 32 legal entities and companies. There are indications that the LAOS party may have been used as a vehicle to legitimize proceeds from illegal activities. To date, seizures include five real estate properties in southern suburbs and regional areas, as well as eight vehicles, four of which are reportedly owned by the LAOS party.
