Fillea Cgil protests cancellation of Sibari-Bolzano train service

Labor unions Fillea Cgil Calabria and Fillea Cgil Bolzano are protesting the upcoming cancellation of the direct Freccia train service connecting Sibari to Bolzano. Starting in February, the direct line will be replaced by a service requiring a transfer in Milan.

Union leaders Simone Celebre and Marco Nardini stated that this connection serves as a vital link for hundreds of construction workers from Calabria who travel to northern Italy, specifically Alto Adige, for specialized work. They argue that the change will increase travel times and costs, making it difficult for workers to return home to their families during rest periods. The unions also warned that the loss of skilled labor could negatively impact businesses in South Tyrol.
