Film City in Mumbai hit by fire at shooting sets

A fire broke out at a temporary shooting set in the Film City complex in Goregaon East, Mumbai, on Monday afternoon, October 5, 2026. The blaze occurred near Reliance Media Works and Prime Focus Studios, affecting sets used for various productions, including director Nitesh Tiwari’s film ‘Ramayana’.

Reports indicate the fire may have also impacted sets for ‘MTV Hustle 5’ and ‘Pati, Patni Aur Panga 2’ due to their proximity. The fire, which was reported around 4:02 pm, destroyed a significant amount of equipment, including electrical wiring, sound systems, air conditioners, cables, wooden planks, bamboo, and plastic sheeting.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade, local police, and BMC emergency services responded to the scene, bringing the blaze under control by 4:55 pm. No injuries or fatalities were reported as authorities had evacuated the area. While the exact cause is under investigation, officials suspect a short circuit may have triggered the incident.
