Film editor Ian Crafford dies at age 82

Renowned film editor Ian Crafford has passed away at the age of 82. He died on July 22 at his home in Brazil following a battle with cancer, according to his son, Scott Crafford.

Born in Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom, Crafford began his career at age 17 at Elstree Studios, eventually becoming one of England’s youngest first assistant editors. His extensive filmography includes significant contributions to cinema history, such as providing sound effects for ‘Monty Python’s Holy Grail’ and editing the James Bond film ‘Never Say Never Again’.

Crafford was a frequent collaborator with director John Boorman, working on films including ‘The Emerald Forest’, ‘Hope and Glory’—for which he received a BAFTA nomination—and ‘Where the Heart Is’. In the United States, he earned an ACE Eddie nomination for his work on ‘Field of Dreams’. His career spanned several decades and included notable works such as ‘The Indian in the Cupboard’, ‘Thunderheart’, and ‘Class Action’.
