Film ‘Eiko no Back Home’ to have first uncut terrestrial broadcast

The film ‘Eiko no Back Home’, which depicts the life of former Hanshin Tigers player Shintaro Yokota, is scheduled for its first uncut terrestrial television broadcast on November 7. The film follows Yokota, a promising baseball player who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 21 and passed away in 2023 at the age of 28.

Based on Yokota’s book ‘Kiseki no Back Home’ and the non-fiction work ‘Eiko no Back Home’, the movie portrays his struggle with illness and his bond with his family. The film stars Takaya Matsutani as Yokota and Kyoka Suzuki as his mother, Manami. It has previously achieved significant commercial success, recording approximately 1.3 million admissions and 1.77 billion yen in box office revenue.

Lead actor Takaya Matsutani expressed his hope that the broadcast will allow more people to learn about Yokota’s way of life and provide encouragement to viewers.
