Film Federation of India opens Oscar selection applications

The Film Federation of India (FFI) has opened applications for filmmakers to submit entries for India’s official selection for the 99th Academy Awards. The submission window is currently open and will close on September 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

To be eligible, films must have been released between October 15, 2025, and September 30, 2026, and must have completed at least seven consecutive days of public exhibition in a commercial motion picture theatre.

The FFI will appoint a jury led by a Chairman, consisting of senior professionals from the creative industry. Following the screening of all eligible entries, the final selection will be determined through a voting process. The official announcement of India’s entry is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

FFI President Abhay Sinha stated that the federation aims to provide a “smooth, democratic and transparent nomination process” to encourage diverse participation from producers and filmmakers.
