Film festivals in Belgium and France focus on sustainability

Two upcoming film festivals in Europe will highlight environmental and social transitions through documentary cinema.

In Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, UCLouvain will host the ACTION! Festival on November 10 and 12, 2026, as part of its Transition Fortnight. The event, organized in partnership with associations such as The Shifters and Grands-Parents pour le Climat, will feature six film screenings at the Pathé cinema. The festival aims to explore themes of citizen engagement and ecological, economic, and social transitions.

In France, the Alimenterre Festival will run from November 2 to November 23, 2026, focusing on sustainable and solidarity-based food systems. Scheduled screenings include documentaries such as ‘Au fil de l’eau’, which examines the impact of agricultural and industrial choices on water cycles, ‘Ebullition’, which explores sustainable restoration in Spain, and ‘Insecticide’, which addresses the effects of agrochemistry on insect populations.
