Film festivals in São Paulo and Curitiba highlight women and education

Brazil is hosting two distinct film festivals focused on specialized themes. The Fim Cine – International Women in Cinema Festival has opened registration for its fourth edition, which will take place in São Paulo this November. The festival invites female cisgender and transgender filmmakers to submit feature-length documentaries and fiction films. A special category, ‘60+ O Fogo que Não se Apaga’, is also available for works directed by women over the age of 60.

In Curitiba, the fourth edition of the EducAção International Film Festival for Education and Preservation will run from September 22 to 25. The event features free programming, including 87 national and international films produced in educational settings. The festival includes workshops, lectures, and a symposium in partnership with the State University of Paraná (Unespar) to discuss audiovisual preservation and educational processes. Notable participants include Peruvian filmmaker María Barea.
