Film festivals TIFF and Verzió announce upcoming programs

The Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) is holding its ninth edition in Oradea from September 25 to 27. The event features over thirty screenings, including international, Hungarian, and Romanian films. Venues include the theater building, Szent László Square, the Neolog Synagogue, and the Darabont winery. The program includes works such as Manuel Gómez Pereira’s ‘The Dinner’, Paweł Pawlikowski’s ‘Fatherland’, and Radu Jude’s ‘Jurnalul unei cameriste’, alongside several Hungarian films.

In Hungary, the 23rd Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival will take place from November 16 to 25, spanning Budapest and eight other cities. Featuring over 80 films, this year’s theme, “Do I believe it if I see it?”, addresses the challenges of deepfakes, artificial intelligence, and manipulated content in the documentary genre. The festival will open with the Hungarian film ‘Papa’ and will place special emphasis on Roma communities and creators, while also covering global issues such as colonial legacies, the ecological crisis, and the war in Ukraine.
