Film industry shows economic growth in Spain and Argentina
The audiovisual production sector in Spain is experiencing significant economic growth. According to a study by Olsberg SPI for the Spain Film Commission, the estimated Gross Value Added (GVA) from film and television production reached 4,980 million euros in 2025. This represents a 38% increase compared to the 3,610 million euros recorded in 2022. This GVA accounts for direct, indirect, and induced effects across various sectors, including hospitality, transport, and professional services.
In Argentina, cinema attendance is being driven by a strategic trend of re-releasing major titles. During the last weekend of September, Argentine theaters sold over 304,000 tickets, with the re-release of ‘Avengers: Endgame’ accounting for nearly 30% of total attendance. This trend highlights a shift in consumer behavior, particularly among Gen Z and millennials, who utilize cinema as a social experience and immersive format.
