Film ‘Izlet’ selected as Serbia’s Oscar candidate

The film ‘Izlet’, directed by Nenad Pavlović and produced by Belgrade-based Digimedia, has been selected as the Serbian candidate for the 99th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. Based on a 1957 novel by artist and writer Mića Popović, the film aims to evoke significant eras of Serbian art, including Zenitism, Mediala, and the Black Wave.

The story follows a young artist named Toma on a mystical journey down a river to escape a totalitarian society and personal tragedy. The film features an ensemble cast including Dragan Bjelogrlić and Predrag Miki Manojlović. Nominations for the Oscars will be announced on January 21, 2027.
