Film “O Fim da Rua” Brings Dinosaurs to 1980s Suburban Neighborhood
Director David Robert Mitchell and producer J. J. Abrams are releasing the new film “O Fim da Rua,” which places dinosaurs in a quiet 1980s suburban neighborhood. The story follows a family whose routine is upended when a mysterious phenomenon brings the prehistoric creatures into their streets.
Mitchell says the idea grew from a childhood fascination with dinosaurs and a vivid image of a dinosaur rummaging through trash in a local alley. He chose the 1980s setting because films of that era emphasized strong characters over visual spectacle. Production designer Maya Shimoguchi researched period locations, and the crew shot on real streets in Atlanta to keep CGI use minimal. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on August 13.
