Film ‘Svadba’ wins inaugural AFA award for cinema success

The film ‘Svadba’, directed by Igor Šeregi, has been awarded the inaugural Adriatic Film & TV Awards (AFA) prize for exceptional success in cinema distribution. This new category recognizes the highest box office earnings within the Adriatic region.

Produced by Eclectica and Viktorija Film, the comedy has achieved significant regional popularity, attracting approximately two million viewers across the region and becoming the most-watched film of all time in Croatia. The AFA awards, established by the Film and TV Academy of the Adriatic Region—which includes the Sarajevo, Zagreb, and Belgrade Film Festivals—will take place from October 23 to 25 in Tivat, Montenegro.

Director Igor Šeregi noted that while the award marks the conclusion of the first film's journey, it also signals the beginning of work on a sequel, ‘Svadba 2’. Producer Ivan Kelava expressed satisfaction with the professional recognition, stating the film's primary goal was to bring audiences back to cinemas for a shared experience.
