Filmmaker Kuku Kohli dies at 77 after heart attack

Veteran Bollywood filmmaker Kuku Kohli has passed away at the age of 77 following a massive heart attack. He died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai after being admitted following a mild cardiac event on Monday.

Kohli is widely recognized for directing the 1991 blockbuster Phool Aur Kaante, which launched the career of actor Ajay Devgn. His filmography also includes notable titles such as Suhaag, Haqeeqat, Zulmi, Anari No. 1, and Yeh Dil Aashiqanaa. Beyond his directorial work, he served as the General Secretary of the Indian Film and Television Directors Association.

His final rites were held at the Oshiwara Crematorium in Mumbai, attended by numerous prominent figures from the film industry, including Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Rohit Shetty, Salman Khan, and Javed Akhtar. Kohli is survived by his wife, veteran actress Aruna Irani, and two daughters, Pooja and Karishma, from his first marriage to Rita Kohli.
