Filmoteca d’Estiu to screen Werner Herzog's 'Aguirre, la cólera de Dios' in Valencia

The Filmoteca d’Estiu summer program will show Werner Herzog’s 1972 film Aguirre, la cólera de Dios on 9 August at 22:30 in the gardens of the Palau de la Música in Valencia. The screening is part of the “Un río de cine” cycle, which groups movies set in riverine environments and includes a montage of historic footage of Valencia’s Turia, Júcar and Segura rivers.

The film, starring Klaus Kinski and set in 1560 Peru, follows the Spanish conquistador Lope de Aguirre’s rebellion and quest for El Dorado. The event is organized by the Institut Valencià de Cultura through the Filmoteca Valenciana, with support from the Valencia City Council. Projections run Monday to Sunday except Wednesdays, with doors opening at 21:30 for ticket sales and bar service.
