Filo Denizcilik vessel resumes service after technical inspections

Minister of Public Works and Transport Faiz Sucuoğlu announced that the Şampiyon Melekler vessel, owned by Filo Denizcilik, has resumed operations following a suspension caused by the Filo Jet incident. The ship underwent a week of technical inspections by Türk Loydu and received official clearance for departure and entry into the TRNC.

While the Şampiyon Melekler has returned to service, Sucuoğlu noted that two other vessels from the same company were denied permission to sail because they failed to receive technical approval. The Minister defended the decision to resume one vessel's service by comparing it to aviation, stating, “Do we stop all planes just because one plane had an accident?”

The 20-day suspension of these vessels had caused significant logistical delays, with hundreds of trucks waiting at ports and disruptions to the transport of fruits and vegetables. To alleviate the backlog, the Şampiyon Melekler will operate daily trips, carrying approximately 70 trucks per voyage. The vessel's name is also expected to be changed to “Şampiyon” in the coming days.
