Fimmg Catanzaro protests medical prescription bureaucracy

Gennaro De Nardo, general secretary of Fimmg Catanzaro, has expressed solidarity with general practitioners in the Borgia Territorial Functional Aggregation (Aft) regarding a dispute over medical prescriptions. The union argues that the current system requires doctors to reissue dematerialized prescriptions for specialist visits or diagnostic tests if the service date falls beyond the 180-day validity period, even if the initial booking was made within the valid timeframe.

De Nardo described the requirement as "unjustified and unacceptable," stating it is harmful to professional dignity and detrimental to patients. He criticized the system for creating unnecessary bureaucracy and time loss. The union is calling for immediate intervention from the Dulbecco University Hospital, the Catanzaro Provincial Health Agency (Asp), and the regional Cup to revise these criteria and ensure prescription validity is verified at the time of booking rather than at the time of service.
