Final Fantasy VII Remake series set for 2026-2027 releases and new RPG ambitions

A gameplay demo of "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" was shown on the Steam Deck, highlighting the open‑world exploration that begins on June 23 2026. The title will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC.

The concluding entry of the remake trilogy, "Final Fantasy VII Revelation", is scheduled for spring 2027. Series director Naoki Hamaguchi said that after delivering the final chapter he intends to work on a new large‑scale RPG, emphasizing that his next project will not be another remake.

Hamaguchi noted growing fan interest in a potential "Final Fantasy VI" remake but reiterated his focus on delivering the final VII title before moving on to a fresh IP or original RPG.
