Square Enix announces Final Fantasy VII Revelation release date and features
Square Enix has announced the release date and key features for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy. The game is scheduled to launch on April 8, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed that the title will feature a vast open world accessible via the controllable Highwind airship. New playable characters include Vincent Valentine and Cid, who bring unique combat mechanics to the roster. The game introduces a flexible Job system, allowing characters to adopt roles such as Warrior, Summoner, or Black Mage, which affects their abilities and visual appearance.
To maintain high visual quality and avoid technical compromises, the physical release will consist of a single disc that requires a digital download for certain content. The game is expected to contain a significant amount of content, potentially exceeding its predecessor, Rebirth. Additionally, Square Enix plans to release two paid expansions between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, focusing on Sephiroth and the duo of Vincent Valentine and the Turks.
