Final Fantasy VII Revelation director outlines canon, hints at spin‑off characters
Director Naoki Hamaguchi discussed details of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Revelation, scheduled for a simultaneous launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC (Steam, Epic, Microsoft Store) in Spring 2027. He explained that locations such as Rocket Town and Wutai were omitted from the previous installment to preserve narrative flow, and that those areas will assume a larger role in Revelation, offering a more expansive world map.
Hamaguchi also emphasized that the remake trilogy is part of a broader Final Fantasy VII compilation that incorporates settings and concepts from Advent Children, Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core. He hinted that spin‑off characters—including fan‑favorite Cissnei and Dirge of Cerberus soldiers—may appear in the game or its DLC, aiming to satisfy longtime fans of the series.
