Final Fantasy VII Revelation reveals new DLC and gameplay details
New details have emerged regarding Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding entry in the remake trilogy. A hands-on preview from New York Comic Con showcased a story-intensive segment set in the North Crater. This early-game section features a boss battle against a new form of Jenova known as ‘Jenova Deathmourner’ and utilizes a crystalline labyrinth environment.
Gameplay mechanics are being updated, specifically regarding the Materia system. A new leveling mechanic introduces ‘Materia fragments,’ which players can consume to directly increase a Materia’s AP ratio.
Square Enix has also confirmed that two DLC expansions are planned for the title: ‘Sephiroth’ and ‘Vincent & the Turks.’ These are expected to launch in Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, respectively. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has indicated that these expansions will allow for deeper character exploration, similar to the ‘Intermission’ format.
