Final Fantasy VII Revelation to feature auto-leveling and 100+ hour playtime

Square Enix has revealed several key details regarding Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy, scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi announced a new accessibility feature that allows players to automatically raise their characters to the recommended level at specific points in the story. This option is designed for players who wish to focus on the main narrative without engaging in extensive side-quest grinding. While intended to improve the experience for story-driven players, the feature has sparked debate within the gaming community regarding whether it diminishes the traditional RPG challenge.

Technical details indicate the game will be massive, requiring approximately 200 GB of storage. Hamaguchi noted that a full completionist playthrough could exceed 100 hours. On high-end hardware, the game is expected to support 4K resolution at 60 fps on the PS5 Pro using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). Gameplay additions include the return of the Highwind airship, new playable characters Vincent and Cid, and the FITS tactical suitwear system.
