Final Fantasy VII Revelation to require 200 GB of storage
Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, has revealed that the upcoming title in the remake trilogy is expected to require approximately 200 GB of storage space. This significant file size is attributed to the need to overcome hardware limitations to deliver the game's scale.
To provide a physical option for consumers, the game will be released on a single Blu-ray disc for platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. However, due to the 200 GB requirement, a substantial additional download will be necessary to play the full game. Hamaguchi noted that providing a physical product remains a priority for the team despite shifting industry trends toward digital distribution.
In terms of gameplay, Hamaguchi estimates that a completionist playthrough—including the main campaign, side missions, and end-game content—could easily exceed 100 hours. The director shared that he has completed the game 46 times during development to ensure quality. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
