Final Fantasy VII Revelation physical release remains undecided
Square Enix’s final installment of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, is slated for a spring 2027 launch, roughly a year before Sony ends production of physical PlayStation discs in 2028. The publisher has not yet confirmed whether the game will be issued on a disc or in another physical format.
Game director Naoki Hamaguchi told GamesRadar+ at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in Berlin that internal discussions about the exact SKU lineup are still ongoing. He said he cannot provide a definitive answer but is working to secure “some kind of physical edition” for fans who value collectible copies. Previous titles in the series (Remake and Rebirth) were released on multiple discs, and Hamaguchi cited the broader industry shift toward digital delivery, noting Rockstar’s decision to sell GTA 6 only as a download code inside a box. The outcome remains uncertain, and Square Enix has indicated that a decision will be announced in future updates.
