Square Enix delays Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold to February 2027

Final Fantasy XIV Square Enix Evercold expansion Naoki Yoshida MMORPG

Square Enix has announced that the sixth expansion for Final Fantasy XIV Online, titled “Evercold,” will launch on February 23, 2027. This marks a delay from the previously anticipated January 2027 release window. During the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida explained that the adjustment was necessary to ensure the expansion meets quality standards and fulfills development promises.

Players who pre-order the expansion can access the content early starting February 19, 2027. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on November 4, 2026. The expansion will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Key features revealed for the version 8.0 update include the introduction of the Zephyr, a physical ranged DPS job that utilizes a crossbow and an avian familiar named Nephele. Other announced content includes a new Tank job named Bastion, a level cap increase to 110, and crossover raid series featuring Neon Genesis Evangelion and Final Fantasy VII. The expansion will also introduce new combat modes, including “Evolved Mode,” and a new setting in the ice-encroached “Fourth World.”
