Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasizes budget discipline

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa emphasized the importance of budget discipline and the protection of public programs during a visit to the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Treasury in Bandung.

Sadewa stressed that personnel spending must be accurately planned from the outset to prevent budget deficits at the end of the year. He warned that budget shifts intended to cover personnel costs should not sacrifice programs that directly impact the community, except in highly urgent circumstances.

The Minister also reviewed several national strategic programs in West Java, including the Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program, the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives (KDKMP), and the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) under the Free Nutritious Meal program.

Regarding the Sekolah Rakyat program, surveys of 22 out of 26 schools in West Java indicate good conditions, with students receiving uniforms, smartboards in classrooms, and individual laptops. Sadewa noted that the program possesses many advantages but requires better public promotion and communication from local governments.
