Finance Minister Suahasil highlights ASEAN economic strength and fiscal discipline
During a meeting with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga in Bangkok, Indonesian Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara highlighted ASEAN as a global economic 'bright spot' driven by credible public policies and healthy development. She noted that the region's growth is supported by a young population and increasing incomes.
Regarding Indonesia specifically, Suahasil emphasized the government's commitment to fiscal credibility. She reaffirmed that the state budget deficit will be maintained at a maximum of 3 percent of GDP, with the debt-to-GDP ratio kept within a 60 percent limit. These measures aim to support the priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto, including food and energy security, human resource development, and natural resource downstreaming.
The World Bank Group expressed readiness to provide technical support for deepening domestic capital markets and assisting the downstreaming agenda to ensure greater domestic value addition from natural resources.
