Recipients are advised not to open any attachments, click links, or respond, and to verify any communication directly with their local tax office.

In Austria, authorities have highlighted a surge of fraudulent social‑media profiles posing as Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer and other public figures. These fake accounts solicit investments by promising high returns in exclusive groups, using fabricated screenshots and pressure tactics. The public is urged to ignore such messages, avoid sending money, and report impersonation attempts.
