Financial crime prevention initiatives focus on Côte d’Ivoire and Mauritius
Efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing are being addressed through both academic discussion in Côte d’Ivoire and practical training in Mauritius.
In Abidjan, Professor Prao Yao Séraphin participated in a conference organized by the civil society group Africanisme to discuss the impact of money laundering. The discussion highlighted how illicit funds weaken national economies and institutions, specifically referencing Côte d’Ivoire’s inclusion on the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) grey list.
In Mauritius, the Abler Group hosted an ‘Effectiveness Lab’ designed to provide practical training for financial institutions, management companies, and regulatory bodies. Led by international financial crime specialist Andrew Tennant, the workshop used evolving case studies to test the decision-making capabilities of compliance professionals regarding anti-money laundering (AML) and countering the financing of terrorism (CFT) protocols.
