Financial education initiatives expand across Latin America and Spain
Various institutions across Latin America and Spain are implementing programs to improve financial literacy among students, educators, and the general public.
In Chile, the Universidad San Sebastián organized a tournament for approximately 200 students in the Biobío Region using the board game FinanCity to teach economic decision-making, with Colegio Concepción Hualqui taking first place.
In Argentina, Banco Galicia, Eidos Global, and the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) have launched ‘Finanzas a Mano’, a free virtual course designed to help communities, including Escuela 718 in Rada Tilly, learn about savings and money management. Additionally, Galicia reported that its participation in the Sustainable Finance Protocol helped reach over 167,000 young people through various financial education programs, showing an increase in knowledge regarding savings and financial products.
In Peru, the Superintendencia de Banca, Seguros y AFP (SBS) has issued recommendations in Piura to encourage responsible saving and credit use. Officials warned against digital risks, such as password theft and unofficial payment channels, urging users to activate security alerts and verify financial information to prevent fraud.
