Coinbase and Moov partner to bring stablecoin payments to community banks

Coinbase and payments infrastructure provider Moov have announced a partnership to bring stablecoin capabilities to more than 1,000 community banks and credit unions. The collaboration aims to provide regulated digital asset infrastructure, including consumer payments, merchant acceptance, settlement, and real-time funding, directly within the existing payment systems used by these institutions.

By integrating Coinbase’s stablecoin infrastructure and custodial wallet accounts into Moov’s platform, smaller financial institutions can offer digital asset services without the need to build and operate their own separate cryptocurrency technology stacks. Moov CEO Wade Arnold noted that the goal is to allow business customers to access these services through their primary financial institution rather than external crypto providers.

In a separate strategic move, Coinbase is also rebranding its Base App back to Coinbase Wallet. This shift refocuses the product on trading across various onchain markets—such as tokenized stocks and perpetual contracts—moving away from previous social networking experiments to emphasize self-custody and multi-chain support.
