Financial funds report varying short interest and performance shifts
Various financial instruments and funds reported significant shifts in short interest and market performance during July.
Erste Group Bank AG experienced a substantial increase in short interest, rising 3,613% to 30,669 shares. Despite this, the bank reported quarterly earnings per share of $1.44, exceeding analyst estimates, and received positive ratings from Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.
In contrast, the ETRACS Gold Shares Covered Call ETN (GLDI) saw an 89.6% drop in short interest. The firm also announced an increased monthly dividend of $1.8496 per share. Similarly, the First Trust Developed Markets ex-US AlphaDEX Fund saw short interest decline by 82.5%.
Other notable movements include the WisdomTree U.S. Quality Dividend Growth Fund, which saw short interest increase by 345.2% in July, and the First Trust Large Cap Core AlphaDEX Fund, which reached a new 52-week high of $141.43.
