Financial institutions deploy AI to modernize banking operations
Financial institutions are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence and predictive analytics to modernize operations, ranging from customer engagement to complex trade finance.
Finastra has launched a new capability within its AI OperatorAssist platform called Repair Recommendations. This tool is designed to help banks resolve payment processing issues by identifying discrepancies and providing recommendations for compliant corrections, aiming to reduce error rates and operational effort.
HSBC has introduced Smart Checking, an AI-powered tool specifically for trade finance. The system automates the extraction and classification of information from highly complex, document-intensive presentations, which can include hundreds of pages per transaction. This automation is intended to standardize documentation processes and accelerate access to liquidity for clients.
Broadly, the banking sector is moving toward using predictive analytics to anticipate customer needs, manage liquidity, and strengthen compliance. While banks have long used predictive models for fraud and credit, the integration of agentic AI is enabling more autonomous actions, though this requires new frameworks for accountability and human oversight.
