Financial institutions diverge on Q4 asset allocation strategies

Financial institutions are showing divergent asset allocation strategies for the fourth quarter as they attempt to recover from shrinking returns earlier this year. While public and private fund performance has faced challenges, many institutions are shifting between defensive and offensive postures.

Regarding equity markets, there is a consensus that the market will likely maintain a volatile pattern with structural opportunities outweighing broad index gains. Many fund managers are prioritizing the AI industry chain, strategic resources, and high-dividend assets that offer stability in low-interest environments. Some strategies involve balancing allocations between undervalued tech stocks, long-term value, and defensive sectors.

In the fixed income and commodity markets, views remain split. Some analysts expect the bond market to remain strong due to economic fundamentals, while others anticipate volatility driven by policy factors. For commodities, gold remains a point of contention; some managers view it as a key component for FOF portfolios, while others remain cautious due to potential pressure from rising US real interest rates and a strong dollar.
