Financial institutions launch consumer protection and education initiatives
Financial institutions in China are implementing diverse initiatives to enhance consumer rights protection and financial literacy.
Standard Chartered Bank recently launched an innovative program in Shenzhen that integrates intangible cultural heritage with financial education. By combining Lingnan fish lantern culture with interactive activities for youth, the bank aims to teach fundamental concepts such as savings, consumption, and risk management through immersive experiences.
Meanwhile, China Merchants Bank Credit Card Center partnered with the Shanghai Banking and Insurance Industry Dispute Mediation Center to host a specialized live broadcast. The session focused on identifying common financial scams, specifically targeting illegal debt agency services and fraudulent claims regarding interest reductions. The initiative aims to educate the public on legitimate dispute resolution channels and the risks associated with the ‘grey industry’ of unauthorized debt handling.
