Financial institutions target African financing gaps and agricultural investment
Financial institutions and stakeholders are convening to address financing gaps and sustainable investment models across Africa.
First Trustees Limited, a subsidiary of FirstHoldCo Plc, hosted its inaugural Commercial Trust Colloquium in Lagos, Nigeria. The event focused on building sustainable financing models for the Nigerian agricultural sector, aiming to move beyond traditional intervention funds toward market-driven models that attract long-term private capital to support the agricultural value chain.
In a separate development, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Access Bank outlined strategies to close Africa’s financing gap. During a press conference in Lagos ahead of the Africa Financial Industry Summit (AFIS) in Luanda, Angola, the organizations identified local currency financing, regional banking, and innovative deal structures as essential tools. The upcoming AFIS summit aims to facilitate partnerships and catalytic deals to convert continental savings into productive economic investments.
