In East Sumba, Member of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Julie Sutrisno Laiskodat, has urged residents to manage their finances more effectively. During a visit to the Malumbi Village Office alongside partners from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Laiskodat emphasized the importance of prioritizing family needs over desires and cautioned against debt that does not serve a productive purpose.

Laiskodat noted that while debt can be a tool for business development, individuals must carefully calculate their repayment capacity and ensure loans are used for activities that generate income rather than for non-productive consumption. She advised the community to distinguish between essential needs and lifestyle wants to avoid unnecessary financial burdens.
